Growing a Garden. Or, sort of. The wedding design process is kind of like that. And in the case of Christine and Ryan’s destination wedding in Scottsdale last September, it was a double metaphor. You plant the seeds, and your wedding design team helps them grow.
A main goal of the design process is to convey concrete visual representation of subjective concepts like ‘elegant,’ ‘whimsical,’ or ‘modern.’ At Sip and Twirl our design process is pretty structured, but it really varies by client. Every couple has a different set of “musts” from which their wedding design will evolve . Christine and Ryan were all about color. We talked, and we listened. Lots of pinks, oranges, yellows and greens. “What if we transform the reception into a modern garden?” I asked. “That would be a dream!” And so we did.
First we came up with a variety of color palettes from which the Christine and Ryan could choose. When they made their selection, it served as a visual representation for the floral designer to work with and from which we created wedding design inspiration boards.
After a bunch of visual communication (fancy way of saying “pinning”) our two inspiration boards were born. Often we have a single inspirations board as our final result, but we had so much color and so much inspiration…well, we needed two boards.
Christine's bridal bouquet has to be one of my all time favorites. Dahlias, ranunculus, billy balls. It was amazing. And wild.
And with a little love the seeds sprouted and the garden flourished. Special thanks to Ben and Kelly for capturing the beauty and energy of this incredible wedding day and for sending these beautiful images to us to share.
